Plans underway for the largest free fair on the Marsh

New Romney Country FairWith just over a month to go, plans are well underway for the largest free event on Romney Marsh. The New Romney Country Fair will take place on the 25th July and with a packed line up of entertainments and activities organisers are promising this year's show will be the biggest and brightest fair yet.

This year the proceedings kick off at 10.15am with a vibrant and noisy parade of over 200 people through New Romney High Street. Leading the parade will be the ever popular musicians from New Romney’s twin town of Ardres in northern France with a street samba band from Tunbridge Wells adding to the carnival atmosphere. Home-grown talent of the Romney Marsh Air Cadets and the TS Veteran Sea Cadets will also be taking part.

The Fair will be officially opened by a celebrity guest at 11.15am with two arenas to entertain crowds. Already confirmed are Racing Pigs, extreme falconry, karate displays, salsa dancing, traditional majorettes and Kent’s Strongest Man Competition.

Now in its fifteenth year, the fair has become a hugely popular event across South East England attracting over 8,000 visitors with organisers expecting a huge turn-out this year.
