Dungeness nuclear future not ruled out - Gordon Brown

Gordon Brown DungenessThe Prime Minster has today said that Dungeness in Kent could still play a part in the country's future nuclear plans. His comments differ to the Government announcement on Monday when Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband ruled Dungeness out of plans for future nuclear plants.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown told BBC South East, "the future of nuclear power in this country is a big future and we've only announced the first round therefore the chance of this happening here is still something that has got to be looked at for the future".

On Monday, the Energy and Climate Change Secretary announced locations for new nuclear sites. Dungeness was the only one of the 11 proposed sites not included in the announced list.
