Lydd High Street is closed this morning after robbers crashed a digger into Lloyds bank overnight.

The smash and grab is thought to have occurred between 3am and 4am.

The front of the bank has been destroyed with debris lying all over the road.

Police have closed the road while investigations continue.

Update: 07:30 - Police attending. Digger still in high street where it struck bank just opposite George hotel.

Update: 09:00 - It is believed the ATM machine was loaded onto truck and driven away - BBC News.
