A259 closed after crash at Dymchurch - story update

Police have released details of the accident that closed the A259 in Romney Marsh and caused travel chaos for commuters in Dymchurch and New Romney yesterday evening. As Romney Marsh Times reported at the time yesterday, Police closed the A259 in both directions after an ambulance attended a crash just outside Dymchurch.

A Police spokesperson said, "We were called at 17.06hrs on 10.12.09. The 17 year-old rider of a moped had been involved in a collision with a vehicle and had sustained leg injuries. He was taken to hospital.

"The road was reopened at 20.13hrs" said the spokesperson.

The latest accident comes only days after a Vauxhall Vectra ended up in a water filled ditch with the driver and two children treated in hospital after the car they were travelling in left the A259 near Brookland and just weeks after a 72-year-old man died in a crash on the same road near the Marlie Farm Holiday Village - just miles from the site of yesterday's crash.
