A murder investigation has begun after a man died following a hit-and-run incident in Maidstone, Kent, on Sunday evening - 27th December. Father of five, Jack Treeby, died at the scene following the incident in Quarry Road. Another man was taken to hospital with a gun shot wound.

Police were called just before 7pm after reports that two men had been involved in a collision with a vehicle and had been seriously injured. A woman was arrested on suspicion of murder that day and Police have today been granted a further 48-hours to continue questioning her. Officers say they are currently viewing CCTV footage from the area where the incident took place and are following up a number of other lines of inquiry.

Mr Treeby died from multiple head and chest injuries following the collision. The man with gun shot wound is said to be stable in hospital. A third man was treated at the scene for minor injuries having also been struck by a vehicle, believed to be a Range Rover, which left the scene without stopping.

Police say the missing vehicle is a blue estate with possible registration number J862 WEG. The image of a Range Rover Vogue Turbo released by Police is not the actual vehicle they are looking for, but is a good likeness say Officers. A second vehicle, a Ford Mondeo, was set on fire at the scene of the incident.

Kent Police's Detective Superintendent Lee Catling said: "We are grateful to residents for their help with the investigation. Their cooperation has been vital in moving forward with our lines of inquiry and bringing together the many elements of this murder investigation.

"We continue to appeal for information however and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or the moments leading up to it."
