Man and children in hospital after A259 crash

Car ends up in water-filled ditch near Brookland

By Steve Gooding, RMTimes writer

A man and two children were hurt after the car they were travelling in ended up in a water-filled ditch near Brookland, Romney Marsh, on Sunday. All three were taken to the William Harvey hospital in Ashford after the car left the road on the Guldeford Lane stretch of the A259.

The man was kept in overnight for head and neck injuries while his passengers, a young boy suffering from hypothermia and a young girl who sustained a head injury, were treated at the hospital but not kept in.

Police have not released the identify of the man or children but said the car, a Vauxhall Vectra, was travelling towards Sussex at around 4.10am on Sunday 6th December when the incident happened on a bend in the road.

A Police statement said that it is believed that a red car may also have contributed to the crash.

This is the latest in a series of accidents to have occurred on the A259. In April, on the same stretch of road, four people were injured in a three vehicle collision in Guldeford Lane and just a month ago a 72-year-old man died in a crash on the A259 between New Romney and Dymchurch.
