Lydd Airport suffered a blow this week after a travel group shelved plans to operate a weekly service to Jersey after poor sales.

Jersey-based C.I. Travel was scheduled to run flights from the airport every Saturday between July and September. However following poor sales it has now cancelled its plans, saying it was taking action now before it became too costly.

The firm is offering alternative flight options to those clients already booked.

Lydd airport spokesperson Jo Oliver said: "While we are very disappointed to learn of the tour operator's decision to cancel the Jersey service, we remain confident that Lydd can continue to expand the range of air travel services offered here."
